(and your two basic premises are incorrect BTW)
Not really. All that would need to be said is that the 19th Amendment and the 14th is unnecessary due to the fact that there is nothing in the Constitution that states that women or minorities are not allowed to vote. If they are citizens, then they have the right to vote.
I don't have a ping list for this side of the forum.
Jim Robinson does not approve of party building for other parties on his Republican site. As such, I defer to him.
Thanks anyway. If you know anyone who might have an interesting comment feel free to ping them.
Any proposal to build a party based on repealing those amendments is going nowhere.
He He He He He He...
We need another party that has no chance winning an election like we need a hole in the head
I'm in.
Idiotic proposal
Idiotic proposal
I like your idea in general. Follow your own guidelines - make each plank something that can be enacted with one (or two) bill(s).
For instance, for strenghening defense, how about "Increase armed forced by two divisions and develop a bomber replacement for the B-52".
Anyway, that's my take.
Those in power want to stay in power. So stay where you are and enjoy the slide into oblivion.
You will be the opposition to the goals. No one ever thought there isn't opposition to these goals.
You're probably not going to be able to define a party on issues of your choosing, and make people come to it. (Think Libertarian or Reform Party.) Beyond that, you've only defined issues A-F. People will also want to know how you'll handle G-Z (not to mention issues beyond Z....) If you're going to invent a party, you have to address the other things people are also interested in, or they'll jsut ignore you.
What you're suggesting is the political equivalent of a Command Economy -- it probably won't work. History shows that issues tend to define themselves, and people will collect about them over time.
Next, you've got to think about why people would join Your Party. Party affiliation in the US is mostly a matter of habit and identy -- two things that do more to ensure loyalty than any set of defined issues. People will leave their current party affiliation only grudgingly, and often they'll move back when things "look better." Only when the party becomes utterly pointless (e.g., the Whigs in the 1850s) does the party really collapse.
IMHO, we're seeing precisely that sort of collapse among the Democrats. The whacko left is pissed and leaving, the fruit-loop left is in control, and normal people (Democrats by habit) are increasingly alienated.
I predict that what's really going to happen is this:
1. The Democrats dissolve, with the leftists going off to form a Socialist/Green party. These people are loud and marginalized.
2. The "Average/Moderate" wing coalesces in the middle, and they also collect the moderate Republicans, and become an overwhelming majority Party. (This is basically what the Democrats were from the 30s-70s.)
3. The Republican right becomes much smaller, and probably much more Buchananite, and is therefore also marginalized.
Another atempt to fragment the Conservative vote. How transparent of you.
Very constructive comments, thank you. It's a work in progress.
How 'bout this: Both the R's and D's would split, and the moderate/conservative D's and moderate/liberal R's coalesce into a new centrist party.
Thanks for your nonsensical comment. How predictable of you.
I take it you oppose these goals. No problem, we are political opponents.
Stick with the current left leaning Republican party and see how far your "conservative" goals are attained.
Thanks for your comments. I hope you are wrong.
I'm not convinced that women should have the vote (except for my wife and my daughter, of course).
