I respectfully disagree. Newt Gingrich expressed similar concerns at the time and I thought then and now that he was wrong. In fact I beleive the opposite would have been true. Ford, Nixon's appointed VP, was unable to win the presidency. I believe the same would have been true with Gore. Had Gore been president, the American people would have gotten a better look at his stiff personality, and Bush would have won handily.
Additionally, there are some evil injustices which must be addressed and punished regardless of real or perceived political expediency.
