WOULD YOU ENLIST TODAY, TO JOIN THE WAR ON TERROR, IF THE MILITARY WOULD HAVE YOU?

I refuse to give my age, but I would go instantly. Freedom is not free, as they say.
BTW, THANK YOU for your service to our beloved country!

You need to calm down, little boy. Bush isn't micro-managing like Johnson or Nixon did with Vietnam.
Calling someone a 'jerk off' betrays a lack of discipline.

Only difference is that I'm a year older.
To: BagCamAddict
Sure would. I love this country.

Age 41 here, too - in good physical shape. I'd go if they'd have me, and I could survive the Basic Training. I run, I backpack, I hunt... and I remember most of the things I learned in ROTC back in college. I didn't get to serve, though, due to a medical problem that surfaced during my senior year. Providing "maintenance medication" is not something the military wants to deal with - and I can't blame them. Hell - I'd happily bring my own supply.
I can shoot well enough to win a FReeper postal match, too. :-) Lemme at 'em.

Age 38 here, yes I would go if they would have me!
Sometimes I think I should have joined up after high school instead of going to College.

Age 49, Am in good shape and would go. The draft ended during my senior year in high school, and the peace accords were signed and the troops came home the spring of that senior year. I went to a ROTC camp at Fort Knox for six weeks but then wimped out of going ahead and enlisting in the Army. Big mistake.
My son is a Marine reservist and is going to deploy to SW Asia in a few months leaving his wife and two toddlers. Pray for him. And pray for victory.

Yes, but it's easy for me to say. I'm 50, but can do 20 push-ups in a flash.

This thread has been very touching.
Besides the moral support that you provide, you're all also contributing by working hard and paying taxes. Without your financial support my husband and other members of the military wouldn't be able to do their jobs. This is a team effort.
So thank you to all of you for paying my husband's salary.
:-)

No, if the President asked for volunteers today I would not step forward. Good. There are other ways to serve your country. We still don't have enough backseat drivers and armchair generals. Somebody's gotta do it!

I've been trying to screw up my gumption and leave a message with my prior service recruiter. I'm more afraid they'll say no than yes. ;)
