If we don't keep the police powers in check then we are reduced to a "papers please" society.
If the police have a justifiable reason to search, they don't need your permission. Anything else is a precurser to a police state.
I've been asked from time to time if they can search my auto after being stopped for speeding. I always say "no", and I've NEVER had anything to hide.
