NATO is quickly losing any relevancy. Chirac seems to be getting very worried that the only country capable of protecting itself and the rest of the world is the USA.

The only reason Chiraq is opposed to a NATO role in Iraq is cause France won't play a part in one. That's why he's trying to block any help extended to Iraq's fledgling government.

After I saw the SOB at the D-Day ceremonies, I knew it was too good to be true and the French would never change. Turns out I was proved right by their subsequent actions.

Shifty Frogs... its too difficult to expect them to stand behind the alliance. Its time someone told them if they don't like NATO, its time for them to leave!!!

Why don't we just boot the French out of Nato? They are not our allies. What are they doing in there to begin with?
To: Pikamax
"France has signalled that it will approve the training of Iraqi forces - plentiful in number but weak in organisation, says No 10 - but it opposes the presence of any Nato flag or insignia on the ground in Iraq. "Thats pretty meddlesome if you ask me consideriong that while France is still a member of NATO, de Gaulle pulled them out of any military command issues nearly 40 years ago.

The word "lead" should never be used in the same sentence as French!

Chiraq has gone too far....
Perhaps it's time to put the bastard on notice...
Either he gets with the program - or France gets added to the "Axis of Evil" --- and implement formal sanctions and embargo...
This crap has gone beyond a disagreement...
Chiraq is attempting to harm the U.S., as France's only hope to gain relevance...
Time to declare at least ECONOMIC war against the bastards, and those that stand with France....

They would like nothing better than to see the U.S lose in Iraq so they can say, "we told you so." <sarcasm

"...four weeks after D-Day!"
4 weeks plus about 60 years - a lot changes over time.

It is my understanding that they are not part of the military arm of NATO.
