Some people need to learn to move for jobs. That's easy to say when you have no kids though I guess.

Mobile, cheap, atomized labor force would be perfect for free market! People without roots, connections, community will be docile and obedient. They would not be able to meddle in politics or organize.

One difficulty is that they will not be able to raise many children but it can be remedied by the import of new labor from the Third World.

A Pole,

There are a lot of people pulling an ostrich out there, but the reality will soon bite the globalist where it hurts. Our current economy is nothing more than pyramid scheme complete with a full set of statistical smoke and mirrors. We are just a couple of rate hikes away from a complete meltdown.

If anything can be said about being un/underemployed right now; it is that you have already been forced to make some adjustments. You can sit back, relax, and watch the meltdown from a distance. Those who are in denial right now are going to be in for a real shock.

Sure there are jobs out there. People are constantly looking for nurses, teachers, security guards, beauticians, whatever. Unfortunately, none of these jobs are a good match for the engineering, product development, and product distribution skills that were displaced during the downturn; nor, are they compensated at anywhere near the same rates; nor, do they produce tangible goods and services that can be neatly packaged and exported.

But, who cares, we are now becoming a society where any job will do, any gender will do, any religion will do, and any cultural values will do; and, where people will vote for any clown so long as they are "not Bush". In short we are becoming a bunch of political lemmings.

People are not interchangeable economic "units" that you can unpack one day, use, and put back in cold storage until they're needed later. One reason we have so many problems with young people is because so many kids are moved all over the country. They lose contact with their grandparents, neighbors, friends, anyone who made a difference in their lives. The social costs are *huge.*

It hadn't occurred to me that keeping people always on the move was an excellent way to politically "castrate" them, as well. The saying is true that "all politics are local." Finally, what's the difference between being moved around for the greater glory of the Communist state (as they did in the USSR), and being moved around at the dictat of corporations who see people only as profit-producing cogs in the machine?
