you make sense, but if you wanted an accident to happen, for the sake of argument, and you knew there was some tampering that was going to be done, wouldn’t you enlist that gung ho pilot?.....he might be the only one to do it...

I can’t remember what I wrote a year ago, but given that the airport was at the base of a cliff, and there was limited IFR equipment, he never should have piloted the plane due to low visibility.

It wasn’t an emergency flight, so the pilot was at error. Moving the beacon would have just made it a bit more certain he’d underestimate the height of the mountain.
