Ted Kennedy, the OJ of the Senate. I don`t know what kind of crack they`re smoking up in Mass., but to re-elect this drunken scum mutt over and over and over for the past 40 years is a direct affront to every law abiding citizen in this country. And for people who doubt that he deliberately killed her, have you ever seen the depth of the water the car crashed in? It was a pond, waist level. There is no time limit on murder charges, they got that one Kennedy scum mutt Skakel already, lets go for number two now. This "above the law" crap has got to stop. This man should be in prison for murder, nowhere near anything anywhere having to do with a political position. His advanced alcoholism alone should have him removed, but to have a guy who murdered someone in Congress is outrageous.

Ted Kennedy: "I tried but I couldn`t save her"
Translation: I didn`t want to open the door.

- Inquest Exhibit # 14 -
- Sketch of Mary Jo Kopechne's position in the accident car prepared under the direction of scuba diver John Farrar.
- Farrar believed that the car initially contained a large pocket of trapped air, represented by the original water level.

I hate Teddy Kennedy. But he did not deliberately kill Mary Jo Kopechne. What he did was panic after after something bad happened, thinking only of his own skin (read "career") and exposing a yellow streak within his own personality. He ran away in order to save his own ass, asking his own cousin to take the rap for him. Joe Gargan did the Kennedy family and his own personal honor a favor by refusing to go along with Teddy's stupid plan.
It was negligent homocide, not first degree murder. I'm not sure that what he did wasn't worse than first degree murder because the woman died due to Kennedy's cowardice; he obviously has been living with guilt ever since, which I have no sympathy for, and that guilt is exemplified in his own behavior with respect to alcohol.
He should have been convicted in Edgartown shortly after this incident; the Sheriff there tried to deal with him in the proper manner, but you know what they say about Kennedy wealth and influence.
