Jack Ryan Says He's Quitting Senate Bid-or- The rise and fall of Jack Ryan

WASHINGTON (AP) - Illinois Republican senatorial candidate Jack Ryan, his candidacy in turmoil over sex club allegations, decided to quit his quest for Congress on Friday. "I am today withdrawing from the race," he said in a statement prepared by his campaign. "What would take place, rather, is a brutal, scorched-earth campaign - the kind of campaign that has turned off so many voters, the kind of politics I refuse to play."

Politics is a cruel mistress. If Jack Ryan were a masochist instead of an exhibitionist, he might be having the time of his life right now. The 44-year-old Illinois Republican is the latest politico to taste scandal's lash, and it's left the poor guy battered and bruised. In fact, the multimedia drubbing has cost the Harvard-educated aspirant and millionaire his senatorial bid: Friday, the AP announced that he has withdrawn from the Illinois Senate race. Sucks to be him. It all started Monday when Ryan's divorce records were unsealed. His ex-wife, "Boston Public" and "Star Trek: Voyager" actress Jeri Ryan, 36, alleged therein that during their eight-year marriage, Mr. Ryan took her to sex clubs in New York, New Orleans and Paris.

Well, this is too bad but it gives a fresh meaning to "be careful your sins will find you out."

Mostly, because we've had NO good republican governers to speak of!!!

Jim Edgar was an ok Gov in my book. Not GREAT but ok. George (the crook) Ryan probably did the Illinois GOP the most damage of any GOP Gov. in Illinois history! THEN, what do we do? We follow up with ANOTHER Ryan! How stupid! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I felt the same way when I lived in Michigan during the Governor Jim Blanchar years with run-away labor union control and other ultra-left wing liberals that turned that state into AN ungodly, welfare state. SO....I MOVED. I AM NOW HAPPILY SETTLED IN TEXAS.

You might wanna consider that if you are still young enough and somewhat unencumbered. I refuse to live in a socialist state.

I wish I were in a position to leave this state! At least I live in a conservative county (DuPage). It too is becoming more RAT infested however.

Could Jeri now turn around and run for Senate? I'd vote for her.

Well, by leftist standards, that is a scandal. Seriously, according to his ex-wife, he wanted to take her to sex clubs and have sex with her while everyone watched. So he is a sicko, if that is true.

This is planned partisan persecution plain and simple.

It's worse than that. Most likely, having actually read the (heavily redacted) divorce document, my bet is that Jeri had an affair, and Jack divorced her because of it. Jeri then got back at Jack by alleging an interest in kinky sex clubs in the divorce proceedings. The fact that Jeri wanted the document sealed indicates that it was an allegation she wasn't interested in supporting publicly.

What's really disturbing here is that two private parties to a dissolution of marriage wanted the proceedings sealed, but an activist judge bent to the wishes of a politically motivated press.

Prostitution is illegal but entertainment isn't. If you go to Quebec, you can see live sex shows in certain Montreal clubs.

IF.... these are allegations that were part of a divorce proceeding that both parties asked to be kept sealed and the judge ( for whatever reason anyone wants to imagine) decided to release. You don't know and I don't know and his ex wife was in fact supporting him saying he would be a good man for the job. (ooops my bad choice of words)...
