I don't think that this is that big of a deal. Let's say that this film does $50MM at the box office. At an average ticket price of $6, that means that 8.3M people will have seen the movie. Now the only people I know that are even remotely interested in seeing it are hardcore lefties. Lets say that a full 1/3 of the people seeing the movie are "undecided" that means that about 2.7M people. Lets assume that 90% of these people both enjoy the movie and are also so brain dead that they don't see it as pure propaganda. So Moore changed 2.4M votes.

Personally I don't think that it will make $50M, I think the average ticket will be way closer to $10, I think that the percentage of "undecided"'s will be closer to 5% and think that it will turn off a lot of people. Additionally, a significant amount of the revenue for this movie will come from NYC, LA, SF, Boston, DC and Chicago, places where the President has very little chance of winning anyway.

All in all if Moore spends $20M on convincing a couple million lefties to vote Kerry, who cares. Its about the equivalent of Err America, and who's worrying about that?

Business Data for Canadian Bacon (1995) (Written and Directed by Michael Moore)

Budget $11,000,000

Gross $178,104 (USA)

Aaaah, but that was before he turned into a seditious traitor....

I'm not saying that the quality of his tripe has improved, just his PR. Thanks to the leftist socialists who run the newspapers and tv networks.

If we roasted him slowly on a spit, how much grease do you think would acumulate? Enough to keep a McDonald's franchise in business for a couple of months. Sorry, I'm just in a mood, and Michael Moore makes me ill...

I kept a low profile in the movie theater.

However, I did get a few strange looks from people who saw that I was not clapping and cheering along with them.

It was a disturbing experience.

OK..In Fairness here, I have no clue if this person is new or not, However, Yes, we are entitled to free speech. Albeit not verbatim, The lisa Myers piece I saw ( about 12:30, EST) DID say some of the movie was true, and some of it was blown out of proportion. I don't plan to see the movie at all, But if anyone gets to watch the Lisa Myers piece. She was pretty good at looking at both sides. The sad part is, Many people will hear one or two true statements, and *assume* the rest is truthful. Thats where Moore is going to get his " Followers" from...

Well, I can think of The Passion of the Christ as a conservative documentary.

I wouldn't classify Fahrenheit 9/11 as a documentary though. It was a propaganda film disguised as a documentary.

Michael Medved just made an interesting observation about the film - note Moore never mentions the mantra of "tax cuts for the rich" in his movie (while his socialist leanings are such he's previously expressed a preference for 70% income tax) - in the case of F911 however the premise Moore starts with is that Bush did nothing in his first 8 months in office except take vacations while, in truth, Bush was pushing through major pieces of legislation including "No Child Left Behind" + tax cuts, so if he was to mention tax cuts at all it would yank the legs out from the first premise (LIE) he tries to establish in the movie.

I believe that the Dems are playing a stupid game with this movie (stupider than usual, anyway). They're not going to turn Bush voters into Kerry voters, but they might actually turn Kerry voters into Nader voters.

That's a very interesting outlook. Since Kerry basically says we need to finish the war in Iraq, just by following some undisclosed, vague differing approach than Bush, liberals who get too over-energized by this film may become too radical to vote for Kerry. Wouldn't that be a kick in the head for fatboy.

16 May, 1918

The U.S. Sedition Act

United States, Statutes at Large, Washington, D.C.,

1918, Vol. XL, pp 553 ff.

A portion of the amendment to Section 3 of the Espionage

Act of June 15, 1917.

My 16 yr old son has gotten in more trouble for fighting and setting off illegal fireworks, than Michael Moore will for trying to tear our country apart. That's a fact....

Where are are your manners???? It's Allahu Akbar./sarcasm

You're welcome. Sorry, but I need to start avoiding the Michael Moore threads. I believe I'm doing a good job at not posting death threats in public, but still....

I hate to tell you this, but the Sedition Act of 1918 was repealed in 1921. In addition the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798, were repealed or allowed to expire shortly after passage.
