From what I've seen and for the most part, I don't think it's that bad of a translation and I expected worse from the headline. There's some good, modern phrases in this translation and we need translations that speak today's language. But if they're going to start calling "partner" any sex partner, then they've gone too far in that verse, rendering the entire translation something I could never recommend because it's a poor translation from what the manuscripts actually say.

The Greek gune is the common term for "wife," and in the context of Paul's well-known thinking, can have no other meaning here. To translate otherwise is not only academically indefensible, it is a slander on a dead man. And that's low.

Actually this is a bit out of context. I don't think it means any sexual partner. Remember Paul was talking to peoples with various relegions and beliefs, many area's may not have had a formal marrage, and they would have to be married after the fact once converted.
