Maybe after a few more people sign to crew this ship it can weigh anchor and get about the business of telling it far and wide that we are following almost to the letter the script for Vietnam that got us in such hot water.
My concern is that GWB is letting this get our of control unnecessarily. The majority of the people would be behind him if he acted boldly like a Patton or a MacArthur. Instead, he is acting timidly and risking his relection to Kerry, who would be an unmitigated disaster.
The worst part of this mess is that no one other than the freaks of society complained when Israel dropped the hammer on the terrorists. Bush could do the same with the helicopters, seals, drones, etc, and gain back some degree of the fear he once inspired in his enemies.

Unfortunately, I think you are correct. I think it will take the detonation of a nuclear weapon on our own soil for people to grasp what this war is about. People need to realize that this is a holy war. These people will not stop until they are thuroughly defeated and destroyed. Do we have the will to do that? I think not.
A "just so you know" ping. I disappear from the computer for an hour and come back to see my intentions questioned by someone I have never been in contact with before.

Our troops are trained to kill and blow things up. Other than that, they get killed and shot themselves. Look at how few we lost during the invasion compared to the aftermath. I think if GWB wanted IRAQ to be part of a war on terror, he should have continued into Syria and Iran without hesitation. What would anyone have done about it?

Mr Kim Sun-Il was an evangelical Christian. FNC news alert just reported that South Korea WILL procede to send over SK troops. (despite this evil crime against humanity that has occured again)

That's exactly why Truman gave the get-go. Although, I think he did it to save American lives mostly. The computations were that we would sustain a million American casualties in an invasion of the Japanese mainland.
