Wow. That's a seriously discordant upbringing. Yellow Springs is one of those towns stuck in the 60s that can't find its way out. I've identified it that way on the web and other people recognize it by that description as well. At least through the early 90s (haven't been through there in a while) you could still see people in leather fringe jackets and beads, and front yard "modern art exibits."
