FREEPER lesson No. 1: Beware of loaded words. Allow me to unpack what Dianna means by this word. Her definition: A Dianna-defined busybody is anybody who views what someone else does in the public square and doesn't look the other way.

No, a busybody is someone who views what someone else does in the public square that has no impact on them and feels it is their right to pass this information in order to bring damage to this person. That's a busybody.

No, you can't go around in some relativistic way (perhaps that's the way you live your life) changing definitions of words as you please. The above phrase describes a "gossiper." A busybody is someone who has nothing better to do than to snoop into the drama of other folks. It's a "detective" type of person; or an interpreter of the people she is watching. Somebody can be a busybody and never say a word to anyone else.

that has no impact on them

Ah, now this is your telling qualifier. This is what you're really getting at. You think folks should 100% ignore anybody that doesn't have anything to do w/them.

How long have you been preaching this "gospel" of yours to every "Neighborhood Watch" group? I suppose you write letters to the editor, too, about all these homely busybodies who have nothing better to do than to watch their neighbors' homes in the interest of protecting them?

I've got news for you. We live in a moral ecosystem. The actions of one person effect another, albeit often indirectly and perhaps only eventually, even if they don't impact me right away.
