Hmmm, Michelle, Maxine, Marta.

Mary, Molly, or Meagan next?

I made the reference to manson, because of the blind loyalty that his followers observed. Do you have your kool-aid in the fridge?

You likened Rush's fans to members of the Manson family because you are exactly the type of person that I mentioned earlier in this thread -- someone getting himself whipped into a lather of invective grossly disproportionate to the subject matter. And to you I also say, as I uncharacteristically have done twice in this thread, GET A LIFE!

They make her sound like a shallow twit. I hope
Rush was smarter than that. Of course many other's have fallen prey to much worse.

The name mentioned is "Cynthia" & that is Dr. Laura's sister, NOT her daughter. Dr. Laura is also rather estranged from her sister. Read it again. :)

Dr. Laura's mother was estranged from her daughter Cynthia, as well. But despite the fact that she hadn't talked to her in years, Yolanda Schlessinger died in Beverly Hills.

Who do you think paid for that place?

Several people on this thread have posted about McCain's campaign finance reform debacle being a valid reason for Rush to trash him personally. That's not right, and if you'd pay attention, you'd see that President Bush knows that, too. Do you see the president trashing his political opponents personally? No. You see him reaching out to them and demonstrating the proper way to behave.

I don't believe you.

What exactly did Rush say about McCain "personally" that made you so angry? Do you even remember?

Define "trashing his political opponents" for me, please, because I can't imagine anything that Rush has ever said about McCain that wasn't greatly exceeded in comments about the likes of either of the Clintons, Al Gore, Tom Daschle, Richard Gephardt, Ted Kennedy, Jesse Jackson, Barney Frank, Ann Lewis, Sheila Jackson-Lee, and a large room of "political opponents" over the past decade and a half.

...You likened Rush's fans to members of the Manson family...And to you I also say, as I uncharacteristically have done twice in this thread, GET A LIFE!

Got one. It's pretty good.

My comparison was about blind loyalty, not murder. He was an extreme example. My exact statement was:

Charles Manson had followers, too. They thought he held the truth... I could have used any number of folk. Would you prefer Jim Jones, and the koolaid? I am quite sure the members of his 'church' thought a lot of him. They drank. They died. The "Rat poison" theory was at work.

Rush, today, is nothing more than a guy who says what you want to hear. I have already heard it! He gets on a rant, about whatever subject, and will beat it for three hours, never saying anything different. I don't need that. I learn quickly, and source the same places he does. Maybe you do not know what to think about things, but I have my opinions firmly established. They came from my family, church, and schools.............

And, I don't think much of any "leader" that cannot back up his mouth, with his life! I do not need to "get a life". I think Rush needs a new one, and God could help. Rush acknowledges "talent on loan from God", but he acts like he forgot to read the rest of the book!

First off, helms excellent popint and BTTT!!!!!! on your post 380.

Now, just a brief comment on what transpired yesterday. It seems obvious from what I've witnessed that Rush and Marta do still seem to think of each other very well. The divorce was handled amicably so in my observation, there doesn't seem to be any hard feelings.

But if you're going to start taking advantage of your spouses assets you should at least show a little gratification and not scoff at someone when you're down like this. Rush is correct when he says you shouldn't try to please everyone all the time. Obviously it became difficult to please Marta and that's why he asked for the divorce.

NOW, THAT'S JUST MY OBSERVATION. I DON'T KNOW RUSH THAT WELL EXCEPT FOR BEING A BIG FAN OF HIM.

Rush has been a successful talk host and has done well for his career and his 600+ station. Some people are just jealous because of his success.

As I've stated, if you don't like Rush don't listen to him. But to go and say that what he's done disqualifies his conservative message from being heard is stupid, idiotic and foolish. Rush is here to stay and he's not going away so lean to live with it.
Regards.

My comparison was about blind loyalty, not murder. He was an extreme example.

Well, you just got an "extreme" reaction to your ridiculous comparison.

My exact statement was: Charles Manson had followers, too. They thought he held the truth... I could have used any number of folk.

But you didn't. You chose to compare Rush to Charles Manson and Rush's "followers" to those of Manson.

And, I don't think much of any "leader" that cannot back up his mouth, with his life!

Who can you identify in this entire thread who thinks of Rush as a sort of "leader" other than in the context of being the leading voice of conservative political philosophy on the radio and the largest counterbalance to a biased-left news culture? Who is foolish enough to think of a political radio talk show host as a moral icon? When you used to listen regularly, did you really think Rush wanted you to think of him that way?

I agree that it is unfair to presume that Marta is a golddigger, but you have stated that Rush "deserved" to lose her because in your opinion, Rush is an "egotistical junkie." That's about as fair as any of us on FR suggesting that you "deserved" to lose your first wife.

He's a human being, with human frailties, not a Trappist monk.

True, it's hard for me to fathom being married three times (or even twice, for that matter), but his conservative political ideology has fortified millions of us, and will continue to.

I don't have to imitate his lifestyle, and, frankly, wouldn't want to.

Thanks for putting this in perspective. It's clear some people here share the infantile point-of-view that listening to a radio show is the equivalent of beatifying the host.

Oh please... It seems that you like to argue in extremes. Notice I didn't say-- "debate". It's impossible to debate someone who thinks they are always right.

I have supported my friends and family thru divorce, affairs, drug and alcohol addiction. I'm not the only one on this board to claim fame to that. If I dumped people because I felt better than them, or they disappointed me, I wouldn't have any left. Do you?

You've made your position clear. I get the message you have a personal vendetta against Rush.

Why don't you show some class and just move on.

Thats really neat how you link my words... I wish I could get better at html, but am still learning about it...

I responded to the adoration being showered by the sheeple!

I blame myself for the failed first marriage. Why should I not face myself, and admit failure. I haven't seen Rush and Marta, and do not know them. Their marriage has failed. There were two parties. My ex-wife did some things wrong, as well...

He is a good talk show host. I drank a lot of Snapple.

He is a good talk show host. I smoke good cigars.

He is not the heart and soul of the conservative movement, nor of the Republican Party. He only speaks what they want to hear! A parrott can do that, and really be entertaining while doing it!

He is a good talk show host....but, I would rather watch a recorded Iron Chef epidsode. It will be more stimulating.

Rush Limbaugh, Wife Set to Divorce
Conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh announced Friday that he and his wife, Marta, are divorcing.

The Limbaughs "mutually decided to end their marriage of 10 years" and have "separated pending an amicable resolution," according to a statement released by Limbaugh's publicist.

It was the third marriage for both Limbaugh, 53, and his 44-year-old wife, who were wed May 27, 1994, at the Virginia home of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Thomas officiated the ceremony.

Too bad the institution of marriage is treated so lightly by a conservative icon.

As long as Rush claims to speak for conservatives (as some folks on this thread claim that he does) and yet lives the life of a gutter-snipe, he is hurting ALL of us.

I get the Rush jokes all the time at work. Coworkers tell me that conservatism can screw up healthy minds, "Just look at what happened to Rush Limbaugh."

I guess it's our season to be in the defensive.

If you think about it, Rush fits the mold of "consumerist" or "materialist" much more so than conservative.

I don't recall Rush's "Shining the Light of Truth" as ever focusing on exposing "skeletons" in other people's personal lives.

LOL.

You gotta be kiddin' ... he made a living doin' it for the eight years of the odious Clintoons.

In an earlier post, someone mentioned that when Rush met Marta, she was married. She then left her husband to be with him.

1Jesus then left that place and went into the region of Judea and across the Jordan. Again crowds of people came to him, and as was his custom, he taught them.
2Some Pharisees came and tested him by asking, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"
3"What did Moses command you?" he replied.
4They said, "Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away."
5"It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law," Jesus replied. 6"But at the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female.'[1] 7'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,[2] 8and the two will become one flesh.'[3] So they are no longer two, but one. 9Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."
10When they were in the house again, the disciples asked Jesus about this. 11He answered, "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. 12And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery."

Cordially,

Damn, we really don't need this.

Why we instead of he? You think that if Rush is found to be a drug addicted gay man that conservatism will die?
