you can argue the rights and wrongs all day and all night but these people are born into the situation. you take away the fear and the danger and suddenly their extremist leaders arent needed to 'save' them from any 'great satans' or 'evil zionists'.
theres nothing better to unite a populace and inspire acts of sacrifice and desperation than a great enemy and percieved injustice. while israel occupies, this is easily 'proven' by the palestinian leaderships propaganda. remove much of he 'injustice' and whats left to complain about?
it is a great catch 22 situation and bears lesons we need to consider in our own war on terrorism: every action needs to be considered not only for its purely short term and military value, but also in how it allows the enemy to gather its strength and paint us to its people. what do we do if they are goading us into acts which benefit them in the end?
i wish this were a simpler world and we know exactly who our enemies are and we could go fight them, but they hide and plot and scheme. damn them.
