A man allegedly attacked a soldier on a MARTA train Thursday morning and fought law-enforcement authorities before being taken into custody, MARTA police officials said.
The soldier, a major from Fort MacPherson whose identity was not released, got on the southbound MARTA train at the Lakewood station and was en route to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to pick up his wife.
On the train, the alleged attacker, 42-year-old Saffo Davis, began staring down the soldier and walked past him several times, according to MARTA police. Davis then allegedly struck the soldier on the side of the head, knocking him to the ground and then started beating him.
When an elderly woman came to the soldier’s aid, Davis allegedly struck her and knocked her out. As the train pulled into station outside Hartsfield-Jackson, Davis jumped onto the northbound train, where he got into a scuffle with a civilian. That train’s conductor and the civilian eventually got Davis under control, MARTA officials said.
As Atlanta police arrived at the scene, Davis broke free and apparently got into a scuffle with a police officer. He then got into another fight with a MARTA police office at the Clayton County Jail after he told officers he need to use the restroom.
Davis, who police officials said was dressed in a white robe and turban, has been charged with four counts of battery and four counts of obstruction.
He has an extensive criminal record in the Atlanta area stretching back to the 1980s.

My christian friends, let me say something that may not go over too well with some here:
Get used to stuff like this. Muslims are cowardly and violent people who never want a stand-up fight. They kill women, children and the elderly. They hide behind the same of thier own religion while attacking others. Combine this with the kind of people who find Islam while incarcerated for violent crimes with the fact that the politically correct manner of law-enforcement that we have these days where the race of an attacker is never even mentioned unless the attacker happens to be white, and you have a powderkeg sitting next to the campfire.
Buy guns, Buy ammo, learn to use both. By the end of this decade you will have to shoot them off your front porch because liberals are giving our society away to them and every other criminal element in our society while those same elements use our own freedoms against us to shield themselves from the light of the truth. Our society is seeing it's own sunset.

A fellow with severe mental issues choking on self-cultivated racial and religious rage would be my first guess, but who knows? In any case, I'd love to hear someone from Georgia tell me about the rules of engagement there. In my state you can intervene with a firearm if you fear grave physical injury to the person getting beaten.

I once had reason to obtain legal advice from a local attorney regarding this issue in Georgia.
I was told to keep repeating,"I was in fear for my/their life/lives", and say nothing else.
IMO...Given the fact the perp in this case was obviously not going to stop being violent until forced to, one probably could've gotten away with using deadly force in this instance.

The took him to jail in Clayton County. It's a minority- majority (to use the PC terminology) county south of Atlanta, but you would have a chance of a fair trial there.

I wouldn't say end of the decade, but in certain areas, in the next few decades you will wind up being right. Unfortunately, you'll be the one going to jail becaus eby then owning a gun and defending your property will be a crime.
