My sister wore all white to her 8 year old daughter's funeral.
It was like, I dunno, spitting in the face of Death.
Was very classy.

In some countries white is the official color of mourning.

Yeah... today, any color really is appopriate (except for maybe red)
But officially, black, white, and light pastels are appropriate.

The Catholic funeral liturgy is celebrated in white vestments, a color of hope and resurrection.

White is the color or Resurrection. Catholic priests wear white vestments at the funeral Masses I have been to. The first one that I attended was in 1984. It was started as a celebration of life and not the usual mourning in death.

White is a common color for funerals around here.
Symbolizes the ressurection I believe.
