He must have changed plans as I understood them. He was out here, and made his appearance at the ceremonies at the library in Simi Valley With his own photographer.
RE: John Kerry. My understanding was he was always scheduled to be at today's service. Some who sought to mitigate his horning in on the line in California offered the theory that he did it because he wouldn't be in D.C., despite some of us pointing out he was slated to attend and sure enough, there he was today.

A friend just called me on the phone to discuss the days' events. But a question came up that I couldn't answer. Did anyone see Gerhardt Schroeder today? I know that it was announced that he would attend, I just didn't see him.

"...sure enough, there he was today."
Any bets on whether-or-not the pics taken of Kerry in California will end up in his campaign stuff?

You're talking about me. Please see post 3825. That's not what I said.
I was never trying to mitigate his horning in on the line. I was trying to explain WHY he was horning in on the line, without getting too judgmental about it. I was also trying to debunk the theory that those were Kerry's photographers, since it doesn't do us justice to put forth implausible theories. It was the press pool that travels in him. That doesn't mean he couldn't have shooed them away if he raised a stink.
Some read that as me supporting what Kerry did in Simi Valley. Trust me, I'm more cynical about the appearance than any of you (except maybe for Mo1). But I am one of those FReepers that doesn't think it is proper to attack Kerry until after the funeral. It just detracts from where the real focus should be --- on President Reagan and his legacy.
