I was wondering why the Bushes weren't there to say good-bye. Don't know what the protocol is under those circumstances.

I would think if President Bush came the nightmare for security with him standing on the tarmac for any length of time. But, I also think the President knows it's not about him -- he doesn't ingratiate himself where he doesn't belong, unlike some others whose names shall not be spoken here.

I don't know what the official protocol is, but they've been very vigilant about staying in the background. I bet they just didn't want the extra fuss, security, etc. that would have gone along with them being there. I'm sure they talked it over with Nancy . . .

I didn't see the Pres. or Laura tear up at the ceremony; bet there are tears on AF1 now! I'm glad they're going to Texas--they need and deserve a few days off.
