I think Patti is finally realizing that the world saw her father in a way she was blind to for so many years. It was only as his light started to fade, that Patti began to acknowledge her father's goodness and greatness.
She's more than redeemed herself in the way she helped her mother through recent years, and in the way she tore CBS a new one over the Brolin movie.

I read in one of Patti's books that she felt, growing up, that her parents had so much love for each other that they didn't have any left over for their children.
