Anyone that can listen to a decent rendition of The Battle Hymn of the Republic and not cry is either dead or anti-American.
I remember the Brits played that song right after September 11 and I cried bejeesus then as well. I recall that deep and glorious pride in knowing that America was all that it was cracked up to be and even if for one day only, the rest of the world freaking knew it.
Suppose the world had lost us? The Battle Hymn spoke musically that we were still here and mad as hell.
