What comes to mind is that it is easy for a person to make a deathbed confession and repent so as to influence public opinion and "soften" the public's view of their misdeeds.
FRankly, I think such actions are bogus public relations ploys.
Thankfully, I do not have to judge late "conversions."
IMHO, though, if an evil person is able to escape the fires of Hell because of a few words uttered just before their death, it kind of trashes the whole concept of living as a God fearing productive member of society, doesn't it?
I mean, if we have to deal with the same a$$holes in Heaven as we have to deal with here on earth, what is the point?
You are right, it IS easy to make deathbed confessions. When they do something like that in order to influence public opinion and soften the public's view of them, that does NOT change where they will go. I am thankful that I don't have to judge those kind either! For an evil person to escape the fires of Hell they have to make a heartfelt conversion, not just say some words. It all comes from the heart. I do believe that there are heartfelt deathbed confssions, and only God knows whether they are sincere. There won't be jackasses in Heaven because sin does not exist there :o)
