No doubt about it, from May to October Houstonians retreat to the air conditioning. With the humidity, a marginal system will only get you down to about 85 running 24/7, so don't cheap out there.

The rest of the year, the weather is mostly wonderful, with relatively few cold days.

Houston is more conservative than Dallas, far more humid, has a slightly lower cost of living and slightly higher salaries. Houston is covered in corvettes, there seem to be relatively few in Dallas.

Houston politicians tend to be goofy, incompetent, and corrupt. Dallas politicians tend to be mean, nasty, incompetent, and corrupt race baiters.

It sounds like a competent car gets you whatever you need in TX. So, we don't have to live in the city. With the changing urban areas you oftentimes don't need to live in the city. 1/2 the people have a nice time of it all and don't step foot in Seattle, but live close enough so that if there's something arcane they need, they can get it without any problem.
