I enjoyed seeing George and Barbara Bush on Larry King together last night. You can tell by the way they interact and respond to one another that they have a very strong relationship. The former President Bush has done two or three jumps since leaving office (and of course he jumped "for real" while serving in the military.) I also found it poignant when, as part of the discussion of the day Reagan was shot in 1981, Larry asked the President if he'd ever thought about assassination and he said not so much when he was in office but he worries about it a lot now. He refers to his son as "the President" when talking about him but made it clear that (like any parent) it doesn't matter that his son is the leader of the free world now, that's still his little boy.

I like them too. I remember reading George HW's autobiography and my favorite part was a scene in which George called home one day and the youngest daughter answered the phone. She was little enough that she didn't recognize her dad, so he took it upon himself to tell her that he was from the phone company and would like her help in cleaning the lines. The daughter wanted to help. A few minutes later, in walks Barbara and the girl is holding the receiver carefully over the floor so that the dirt will come out. Barbara knew immediately what was going on and she marched over to the phone and gave her husband a piece of her mind.

I loved it!
