In the stirrups of the riderless horse, representing a fallen leader.

A riderless horse will follow the caisson, with boots placed backwards in the stirrups to signify a warrior's very last ride.

what rear facing boots? The rear facing boots on the horse indicate that the deceased will never ride again
Also, the weapon fired 3 times at the funeral mean that the burial party is ready to return to battle

watch for the riderless horse following behind the caisson. There will be a saddle on the horse. The boots in the stirrups will be facing backwards, signifiying a fallen warrior. The boots used will be Reagans own riding boots. I will be blubbering when it goes by.
