I'm late to the thread, and couldn't see the procession live. I watched several changing of the guards last night, and many of the onlookers. I noted several ex-soldiers saluting, and a number of blacks---which, to hear the media tell it is impossible, because black people suffered under Reagan.
To me, the most touching thing was several families with small children, explaining to them who the great man inside that box was.
Yesterday's beautiful tributes, music, and ceremonial trappings can best be summed up by President Reagan's own words: "Not bad. Not bad at all."
I am looking forward to hear President Bush's eulogy tomorroe, for he...more than any President since Reagan...embodies the determination to do the right thing for this country.
