Actually tv broadcasting or should I say narrowcasting began in the late 1930s in NYC. There were only about 200 tv sets then but there were tv programs being shown. The coming of the second world war shut it down and it didn't resume until after the war. The process of inventing tv began in the 1920s in numerous places and continued to develop until there was a nascent tv setup in NYC in the late 1930s.
