ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Matthews has been a sniping, petty baby this week. He has used the opportunity of Reagan's death to bash Bush (implying Bush didn't live up to Reagan's legacy), he's interviewed every democratic dinosaur from the 1980s. Chris, much like you these people were on the wrong side of the argument than and now. He only gives Reagan credit for his optimism and "pragmatism". And he's used to funeral to highlight Nancy's criticism of Bush on stem cell research.
On the other hand, Lester Holt and Joe Scarborough have done yeoman's work. They have handled this week with class and dignity. Scarborough's coverage was even better than Fox.
Easy, bigeasy.
During this period of mourning for Reagan, the times I've switched on msnbc and Matthews has been on, he hasn't been on his usually rant and rage. He's been respectful and composed. In fact, aside from Ted Rall on Hannity and Colmes the other night, I haven't seen anyone really lose it and attack Reagan with vitriolic rhetoric. Then again, I haven't watched much of Matthews. Just more then my usual cursorary look-see. His interview with Tom Selleck was great. Selleck talked about the many private times he shared with Reagan. It was nice.
I haven't seen much of Lester Holt but you're right, Joe Scarborough has done a fine job. His work at Normandy for the D-Day Ceremonies was also top notch.
Btw, I don't doubt Matthews has reverted to his normal ways of being an arrogant arse. Just haven't seen it myself.
TCM has a Reagan festival on for the entire day. Check it out and enjoy.
