What is more disgusting is that it is working for him I wouldn't say that LJ, it will be a one night photo op, but the memory of him being so crass will live on, IMO.

I hope you're right. The media is giving it a lot of attention tonight.
What is also disgusting is him giving a thumbs up after he left the viewing. Drudge has that one on his site. What is there about a funeral that a sane person would give a thumbs up to!!

I'm still fired up about that! I hope someone in the Reagan family says something, not now of course but maybe sometime in the future! It's much too soon, but I'm thinking Michael may have something to say about it in another few weeks.

No democrats spoke. I watched the whole thing. Early speakers were friends of the lesser-known victims. Political people who spoke included Tom Harken, the guy who was Wellstone's campaign manager, his sons, and one other democrat, I think. NO Republicans. They didn't even have Jesse Ventura speak, and he was governor of the state.
To: Revolting cat!
Actually, he never walked past, from reading the reports. He popped out of the "holding room" sort of like a cuckoo out of a clock, did his little lip-biting routine, crossed himself, put his hand over his heart, and left.

THe lamestream media is NOT portraying this as it actually appeared. NBC News portrayed him as "Paying his respects" to President Reagan. Not a word about him bringing his own cameraman and jumping the line.
Nothing about how he never had anything but venom for PResident Reagan when he was living. Disgusting.
To: Republic
I have only read about half the posts & perhaps this is mentioned later on.. any possbilities that Ron(son) & Patti invited him? Called & made necessary "break the line" arrangements? they are Kerry supporters I understand
To: faithincowboys; Joe Hadenuf
But you usually do that kind of thing. You never say an unkind word about the Rats--even when they do shockingly underhanded things. That is, beyond a doubt, the MOST preposterous thing I've ever read on FR.
And I don't even get along with Joe.

Kerry knew that his friendly media would play it this way...that's why he did it.
I wonder how he is going to use the pictures that his personal cameraman took.

I know there are split households, but couple that with the fact the woman was described as "rhymes with witch" and it goes up a notch.

How do we know that the cameraman was Kerry's and not the pool press reporter assigned to cover the Kerry campaign.
I still don't fully understand why Kerry thought it was necessary to go to the Reagan library today. This photo op will enrage some conservatives and alienate some rabid anti-Reagan leftists. But it doesn't disgust me that he went there to pay his respects. It's a nice sentiment - Reagan is so important that even those fundamentally opposed to him feel it necessary to pay respects. It seems to be the wrong time and place for a Senator to pay his respects. Maybe he's going to miss the Congressional ceremony tomorrow to attend his daughter's graduation and didn't want to catch any flak?
Senator Kerry's comments about meeting more with President Reagan than Bush is disgusting, however. Senator Kerry has been AWOL from Washington for most of 2003 and 2004. Did he expect President Bush to fly to Iowa and New Hampshire to kiss Kerry's ring? Give me a break!

The guy I saw had a BIG camera on his shoulder, with cords hanging down.

They were talking about it on FR earlier today..about how the cameraman came in with Kerry and positioned himself to get a good view of Kerry.
It was noted that NO cameras were supposed to be there - with the exception of C-Span. (Pretty sure C-Span was assigned to cover it).
