The home page is blank, and links to pages and images from Google come back as "page not found."

It doesn't act like a technical problem or "slashdotting." It looks like people are being directed to a "blank" site with an empty home page so they can't snoop around the directory structure. Or, someone deleted all of his pages and images. That someone would most likely be the hosting company or Rall. The fact that it's not back yet and there's no explanation or "taking credit" page probably rules out hackers. (Note to Ted: That would be a convenient wounded-martyr defense claiming the VRWC hacked his site.)

Who removed it and why? I doubt Rall would remove it because it's getting him a lot of the kind of publicity he wants, so it had to be his hosting service possibly for violating their terms of service or using too much bandwidth. Companies can charge more money for bandwidth overages, so that leads me to think it's a terms of service issue, since his hosting company takes the unusual step of spelling that out in their terms of service (see my previous post). Maybe the Reagan comments finally hit a nerve?

Long story short, this isn't accidental or a technical problem, IMHO. The site disappeared for a reason. My guess is that "Rall.com" moves from the current hosting company (vineyard.net) to another within the next 24 hours, which would prove my theory that he was kicked off by the hosting company.
