she isn't quite getting the whole idea and has dealt with several family deaths

Sorry for your losses. We have been spared (so far) and have only lost a beloved pet.

I just know that this is history in the making and I want her and her brother to be there. Had I been 5 and living close to DC, I would have hoped that my parents would have taken me to the JFK procession.

BTW, they are napping, so I can FReep and watch TV and listen to Rush to my heart's content!!!!

I just showed her some pix on this thread and compared it to when grandpa died and how grandma feels.

She is chilling now and made a flower picture for him and a picture of him and her together. It is easy enough for her since she knows who George Bush is (and is jealous of Laura!)

Due to illness, any napping going on includes me! It will probably be a good 4 to 6 more weeks before I feel like 100%, but I am exercising to get rid of the flab that doens't help. Lost 6 pounds.

If you can somehow have the concept of the funeral make sense, I would see nothing wrong with taking your children. Even if they don't understand, you remind them from time to time as they learn who George Bush is and begin learning history, they will appreciate it later.

Thanks for your thoughts -- and here's hoping you are feeling better.

My daughter is still trying to comprehend the difference between George Washington and George Bush! I think we will definitely go to DC, I'd kick myself if we didn't. Just showed two kids about our kids' age at the viewing in Simi Valley!

Enjoy Phoenix, my folks live in Goodyear and we were just visiting them in May. By coincidence, they are traveling to visit us now and will likely join us at the processional.
