On Scene Report #5 - Marylander’s last on-scene report: The lefties are leaving, and she never even heard their sound truck. The lefty crowd was 500 -1000, and many seemed confused when faced with facts. They thought they were at an antiwar rally.
Even before the Park this morning, Marylander had met a couple of them at McDonalds. After she explained what ANSWER really is, the couple apparently changed their minds about attending.
Marylander reports the news crews seemed more interested in the FReepers today than in the lefties. [Maybe because we are more interesting?]
One of Marylander’s favorite chants of the day was at the end, scolding the lefties to “Pick Up Your Trash!” Some protesters turned around and did just that!
Marylander is, to use her word, “exhausted,” and a bit hoarse. Twenty FReepers CAN outshout 500 protesters, but I think they deserve a nice, soothing hot drink ...

Awesome reporting -- and a great turnout for FReepers, Lurkers and Friends. Kudos to the Iraqis who braved the anti-war throngs to tell the truth about Saddam and the war in Iraq.

we asked them to "take off their tops for peace" and to "put bags on their heads for peace." We also told them they had "RPG envy" and as the rain got to the missiles, tgsltakoma made sure to point out that their missiles were getting a little limp. I refer to them as the "Molly Ivins quadruplets" since they were camping up an Ivins-like voice stating they were from Crawford, Texas.

We had several Iraqi men that joined our protest. Several had a hand cut off by Saddam's regime because they did commerce in US dollars.
Kristinn had CNN come up to interview the men. Before they started interviewing the Iraqis, Kristinn introduced as the "Al Jazeera of the US.... just kidding."
The CNN guy appeared to take it well ;-).
During the protest, we had a chance to chant at the other side: "You never marched against Saddam. Apologize to his victims."
I am honored to be able to stand up for such men.
BTW, there sure were a lot of angry leftists in that crowd today.
