It seemed to me you were pitting Nancy against your own wishes in the details... and I don't think she deserves an assumption that she will not do what she should do for her husband in his passing. Give her some credit.
when one becomes the PONTUS they become more than who they are individually. They now below to history & the people. They WILL have a state funeral & they will have the (yukky) attendance of former PONTUS. Nancy may wish for more private etc but she is a very smart lady & does understand the big picture & the place her husband holds in history & she will no doubt be warm & filled with the good wishes & the love that "we the people" profoundly show to him & his memory.
