I think the last 4 sentences (not just last one) show extreme back pedaling and a lame attempt to neutralize the attacks or come up with some simpy rationalization and even justification(!) for the violence of these 'men' other than simple hatred and anti-Semitism based on radical beliefs tied to fanatical Islam. It is truly despicable. I think Haaretz chose to leave it in to illustrate what French Jews - and the rest of us (because their hatred only begins with anti-Semitism) - have to look forward to.

That last line really is unbeliveable. This same crap is rearing it's ugly head here. Look at the campus protests.
