We do this to placate the press. They insist that the GOP, when we win, be very careful not to act like we won ("govern in a bipartisan manner".) The Democrats, however, can govern like Democrats.

Seriously, I think if Bush loses in 2004 his weakness of will in cleaning out Clintonites will be THE story yet to be written, and will illumine much when written.

Exactly, and the new tone is exactly why the federal government is wasting an extra $600 billion a year. It's got to be one of the worst policies ever.
