[And remember, if Hoeffel wins it will because of our votes. He won't have them the next time and the real Republican will.]
Hoeffel doesn't need real Republicans to win elections. He could just assemble the same coalition that Ed Rendell created in 2002. This should enable him to be in the Senate for a long time.
Sage advice from the state that has elected many noted conservatives. NOT!
What coalition did Ed Rendell create? What campaign did his opponent mount? Fisher was pathetic. He stood for nothing and couldn't generate any excitement. In the first week, he alienated the pro life people by picking a pro choice running mate. Both of the last two lt. governors ended up serving as governor so that was an important issue.
He never came out strongly for the gun rights base either. He was wishy washy at best.
Now here is an interested tidbit. Fisher's dem opponent supported him for a seat on the federal bench. I have to wonder if there was some sort of deal made early on to not put up a fight for governor. Fisher had long been discussed for a judgeship so it's a possibility.
