Police are calling it a hoax, but it caused quite a commotion. "We can pinpoint what it is," said Deputy Fire Chief Bernard Newsome. "Our test tells us that is 99% cornstarch."
Authorities say the trouble started when a witness told security that a man was mumbling to himself and sprinkling white powder at the Mint.
Security reviewed surveillance tapes that showed the man sprinkling the powder. Hazardous materials teams were called in immediately. Despite the fact that the powder was cornstarch, authorities need your help finding the man who caused the scare. If you have any information, you're asked to call Central Detectives at 215-686-3093.
