IMO, the audio was from the original killing, which surprised Berg (perhaps he thought the whole thing was a gag, until he was actually "snuffed"). I had read that the cameraman had screwed up and missed the original act of killing. So probably they stabbed Berg to death while the original audio was being recorded (perhaps as he scrambled out of camera range, after finally realizing what was about to befall him). Afterward, they overlayed the original audio with new film of his decapapitation.

This was my impression after first viewing the film. No less horrorific, to be sure. But IMO Berg was probably duped by his "captors". IMO too, despite earlier "reports", the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree. Just check out dear old Dad's "statements". It's all too convenient.

Let's get this straight: Nick Berg really was murdered on tape, without question. If you don't beleive me, watch it yourself frame by frame in Windows Moviemaker and tell me why his blood is pulsing out of his right carotid artery? (BTW, if you think that isn't enough blood for you, let me remind you that Kill Bill is a movie.)
