Joseph P. Barrett is a decorated World War II veteran who landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, June 6, 1944 and battled his way across Europe on a half-track.
Barrett, 82, of Haverford Township, Pa., earned five battle stars in the European Theater of Operations -- Normandy; Northern France; Rhineland; Ardennes-Alsace and Central Europe -- as a radio operator with the 474th Anti-aircraft Battalion. He is a fervent believer in God and a gifted story teller.
"The Man upstairs watches over you," he said.
