Hurlbut's law license is on the line here.I think you're right about that; I'm almost positive that he tried to hide this evidence behind the Rape Shield Laws.
Plus, there are a lot of questions about just HOW the accuer's rehab bills were paid; the Colorado Victim fund specifically says $20,000 per victim and her rehab cost $35,000 a month.
Additionally, why did Hulbert request those phone records? Evidently she text messaged a LOT of people on the way home from the hotel!
One of the things that bothers me about this entire episode is that Kobe got the kind of legal representation which every criminal defendant should get but that only 1% do get. If every criminal defendant got first class representation of the calibre of Pamela Mackay (about whom I have nothing but superlative opinions), then we would have markedly less criminal convictions.
I am very uncomfortable with the fact that we are sending people to prison because they cannot afford the type of defense that Kobe got. Justice should not be this wealth-related.
