FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Michelle Duggar is all smiles after delivering her 15th child, but she may be ready for more, her family says. Mother and child were doing well, although Michelle, 37, was feeling some discomfort because the birth was her second by Caesarean section, said her mother-in-law, Mary Duggar. “She’s a trouper. She’s just all smiles,” Mary Duggar said. Jackson Levi Duggar was born at 10:52 a.m. Sunday, weighing 7 pounds 8 ounces and measuring 20 inches. “She was wanting to do it naturally,” Mary Duggar said. But the delivery was by C-section because one of Jackson’s shoulders was presenting first. “I call him Jumping Jack because he would go in a circle,” she said. More on the way? The baby’s father, former state legislator Jim Bob Duggar, sounded a bit tired but happy after returning home Monday. He said his wife and new son were doing fine. He said he leaves the decision up to Michelle on whether to have more children. “I have always left it up to Michelle because she’s actually the one that carries them and does all the labor,” he said. “But we both love children. Even yesterday, she said she would like to have some more.” Michelle probably will be in Washington Regional Medical Center for three or four days, said her mother-in-law, who is taking care of the 14 other children. Michelle, who home schools her children and is helping to build the family’s new home in Tontitown from the ground up, started having her babies when she was 21, four years after she and Jim Bob married. Her 38-year-old husband is a real estate businessman. Their children include two sets of twins, and the parents have stuck to the letter “J” for their names. I'm certainly not in the touchy-feely-self-esteem for kids crowd, but pleeeeeease. All the cheering on this thread seems to come from the same crowd that constantly complains that taking care of 1 or 2 kids is an unbelievable burden on their sanity. So given that, how can a mom do a good job at parenting when she has been
1. pregnant non-stop since 1988?
2. has 14 other kids to mentor/raise/feed/advise/teach/?
It just doesn't pass the common sense test.

Years ago I thought three would have been a good number too. I told the ex that three filled the lighthouse keeper principle. She asked what that meant and I told her "if two kill each other in a card game or something, there's still one to man the light." Sense of humour wasn't enough to carry that one though. I remarried in February 2002 and we're working on the regeneration campaign now. As I've said on these sorts of threads before... I'm worth reproducing! [LOL]
I KNOW several Congress people in the State legislature and MOST of them are ignorant and arrogant. How do you know I haven't met him? Many of them go from bums to "legislating" to lobbying. At least he has a business and runs his life debt free. I admire him for that.

Coming from a large family, I would concur. It sounds good in theory but it rarely is in practice, for both the parents and the children. Having that many children just aggravated existing situations and issues.

He's the last of six. One of his brothers has been married for 13 years next month and his number seven child is on the way.

As long as I'm not paying for them, and they're not being mistreated, it's none of my business how many kids they have. I don't get some of the people on this thread, who have a problem with this. I don't think growing up in a big family, or being "raised" by their older siblings deprives kids, or older siblings taking responsibility for their younger siblings is traumatizing or detrimental for kids. Our grandparents did it, and it didn't do them any harm. Everybody I know from a large family loves being from a large family and having all those brothers and sisters. The only thing that weirds me out about the whole thing is the wetsuits. That's a little extreme, if you ask me.
