I don't need to hear or see the speech to know what the punditocracy's conventional wisdom quickly will become:

Bush's "performance" was weak and his speaking style lacked lofty concepts. (Cue Peggy Noonan)

He didn't say what he "should" have said — but whatever he did say, he had to because of his sinking poll numbers. (Cue Tim Russert)

How dare Bush not say what I said he should say! (Cue Chris Matthews)

The President said such and so, but do you think the American people believe him? (Cue Katie/Diane/Charlie/Matt, etc.)
