But it NEVER was the progenitor of American comedy;not EVER! The "Borscht Belt"/the Catskills resorts,was THE training ground for stand-up comiedians.Not the Yiddish Theatre!

And THE most famous stars,directors,and plays,of the Yiddish Theatre,were the know for the dramas.

The comedians like Molly Picon,who finally made the cross over to American theatre and movies,in middle/old age,were far and few between.

And noooooooooooooooooo...that wasn't "shtik";not even close.Frankly,I'm not quite sure just what it was,besides confusing and not funny.Are you aware of what "shtik" actually refers to? Can you give me an example,please?
