At the convention today there were numerous references to President Reagan. Moreso than usual. Knowing he was near death, I kept waiting for an announcement from the podium. . George Allen seemed especially Reaganesque. Who knows why.

Jim Gilmore was as angry as a wet hornet about the tax increases. He gave a stem-winder of a speech. He was furious the General Assembly caved in to Mark Warner and raised taxes while covering up the surplus news.

Since it's an off year, turn out was lower than usual with the main focus to deliver Virginia for President Bush. The breakfast theme was a Power Point presentation about the Senate races with taking Daschle out the most important.
