Most people interpret the phrase "left of center" politically. In fact, I've never heard it any other way other than to indicate text position on a page. When you read the Taco Bell page, there's nothing to indicate that this is anything other than a gratuitous political slap.

And I was skeptical at first myself, until I went to the page.

Sure it does. What other thoughts are "left of center?" If the person meant in left field or unusual, they should have said so.
