New Nick Berg info- For anyone that is still paying attention.
Friend of a friend | 5/21/04 | abner

Posted on 05/20/2004 9:15:00 PM PDT by abner

I live fairly close to where Nick Berg used to live. I have a friend that was hired by Nick to do some work for him.

I have some new information from that friend that may or may not shed some light on Nick Berg.

I thought I would post it here for reference.

1. Nick and his father were polar opposites. My friend relates that Nick was very gung ho about the War on Terror. He also said that Nick's father was generally low key about things. In my friend's mind, Nick was very much a supporter of the United States.

2. Nick knew Arabic much better than has been reported in the news. My friend heard him speaking on the phone in Arabic on more than one occasion. He says that as far as he knew, he was not uncomfortable speaking the language.

3. My friend thinks that there is more to Nick's story than meets the eye also. He does not think that he was working for the bad guys.

Wait a minute, more photos of "prisoner abuse" coming out! Oh no!! We can't equate this beheading with the treatment of these ideal citizens of Iraq! No politics here!! </more sarcasm>

Well at least it's not the "terrorist speculators" on those recent threads. Man, it was like talking to people on the other side of the looking glass.

Better a bag on your head, than your head in a bag....
Or, wait a minute, is it the other way around???

The media has me totally confounded! How will I survive?

I think I'm supposed to put in a Dean "I have a scream" in here next!

what was he doing in iraq?
what did he do in iraq?
i heard (i think on this site) that he had no job in iraq and no means of support.
That other terrorist using his computer for email is problematic.

One thing is for certain, Nick Berg seemed to have many friends who remember him well. I did hear another friend of his interviewed who said he wouldn't describe Berg as a Bush supporter. And it's kind of hard to think of his father as "low key" not just because of his recent statements but because of his involvement in ANSWER.

I am not challenging what you have posted...only saying that there are many mysteries involved here.

I agree with you completely.

I'm just getting this out there. The more info the better.

My friend said that father and son were totally opposite. Nick was energetic and friendly. Michael is quieter. Maybe that helps.

He studied Arabic in Israel.

Do you know this as fact or are you speculating?

I am very curious as to his knowledge of Arabic. That is very interesting. My friend said he was VERY comfortable speaking it.

The news media has said that he could barely get around the language.

I hear what you are saying ... but the point is the fact that the media continues to beat this "prisoner abuse" thing to death for weeks while only really giving two days coverage to an American being beheaded. I don't know what he was doing over there, and I don't know how Zacharias Mousawi got his ISP username and password. I agree that this needs to be looked into. My point is that the media is playing politics with this story .....and they are trying to acheive a political result through their efforts.

I think we all have to drop the conspiracy theories and go by whats reported. After 8 years of Blozo Clinton that may be hard for some people to do.

And as another poster pointed out: If he wasn't working for us, he was certainly being "watched" by us. The password incident would have raised red flags, but his travels to Iraq would have put him on a "hot" list.

I am very curious as to his knowledge of Arabic.

I am too because it seems one consistent "fact" of his profile was that he was not very fluent in Arabic. In fact, I think he said that himself in one of his own e-mails that was released in the press.

Michael is quieter. Maybe that helps.

He doesn't seem very quiet from what I've seen on the news

Thanks for the info on Nick
