Billie, is the first vingette a new one?

Not really a new picture - I had it on my server as the background for this (remember Christmas 2001, when Circuit City made videos to send to the troops - it was the message I taped for them.) :

I just want to thank you for being there....for me, my family, your family, for our country....for fighting to keep it strong and free.
I pray that God will bless you and keep you safe. You are all our HEROS, and when you return, there will be parties and balloons and fireworks and parades, and dancing in the street.

Did you have the vingette saved without the font (message) or did you remove it? Didn't know it was possible to do that.
