I'm loath to admit this, but I was watching MSNBC. (Yes let teh floggings begin) Anyway, they had David Kay on and he was spinning this as:
"This is a leftover munition from the early ninties. We went to war because Iraq was supposed to be actively producing rounds. This is just one shell, probably mixed up with others and over looked when Saddam destoryed the others."

And there we have the new lib talking points of the day.

FROM SKY NEWS:

NERVE GAS SHELL EXPLODES IN IRAQ

A shell loaded with the deadly sarin nerve gas has exploded in Iraq.

The artillery round, which was set up as a roadside bomb, went off as Coalition soldiers were inspecting it.

Two soldiers were treated for minor injures.

Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt told a news conference that only a small amount of the gas was released.

"Two explosive ordnance team members were treated for minor exposure to nerve agent as a result of the partial detonation of the round," Kimmitt told a press conference in Baghdad.

He said that the deadly agent was produced after two chemicals in separate sections of the shell mixed after it was fired.

"Mixing and dispersal of the agent from such a projectile as an IED (improvised explosive device) is very limited," he said.

"The former regime had declared all such rounds destroyed before the 1991 Gulf war."

A sarin gas attack on Tokyo's subway, carried out by the Aum Shinrikyo religious cult in 1995, killed 12 people.

A single drop of the gas can cause an agonising, choking death.

"We went to war because Iraq was supposed to be actively producing rounds"

No we didn't, we were enforcing the U.N. resolution which directed Iraq to disarm. And since they said they had destroyed them all, they were ordered to turn over evidence of their destruction. Since they didn't do that then they never fully complied, having fallen short of their commitment under the resolution it authorized the UN to take any action needed to bring about compliance. He knows that, Kay is playing a political game here and it sickens me. There is still nothing on CNN.com about this story I know it shouldn't, but that just amazes me.
