POSTED: 7:54 am EDT May 18, 2004
UPDATED: 8:09 am EDT May 18, 2004

PITTSBURGH -- A train derailment is forcing hundreds of Amtrak passengers to change their route this morning.

More than 20 freight train cars left its tracks in North Huntingdon, Westmoreland County on Monday afternoon.

The derailment has blocked the CSX tracks and passengers on Amtrak's Capitol Limited line cannot travel by train between Pittsburgh and Washington D.C.

At about 4 a.m., a train pulled into Pittsburgh from Chicago and nearly 400 people were shuttled across the station onto buses.

Amtrak hopes to be back on schedule tonight.
